About

Anabelle Stonehouse (b.1997) is a ceramic artist working and living in Naarm/Melbourne.

Anabelle is currently completing a Master of Fine Art at RMIT University. Her studio-based research project employs an expanded ceramic practice and unconventional installation strategies to investigate and recontextualise the feminine experience.

Aspects of the grotesque, beautification, the abjected body, the domestic realm and patriarchal value systems are explored through active installations in an attempt to reveal and challenge gender biases.

Primarily with porcelain, she uses hand-building and wheel throwing techniques, as well ready-made objects. Anabelle explores feminist concepts with refined ceramic forms and decorative embellishments.

She has participated in several group shows in Geelong and Melbourne and recently presented her work ‘Come Hither’ in the 2024 RMIT University Master of Fine Art Graduate Exhibition.

This work will be exhibited at West End Art Space in the ‘Bloom’ group show from the 12th- 28th of February 2025.
